I am teaching 2nd grade ALL SUBJECTS
for our SHARY 2021-2022 STAR STUDENTS.
I assisted with coaching our k-6 Chess Team and
coached the 3rd-4th UIL Ready Writing Teams.
We are currently the 2020 State Chess Champions!!!
I'm truly blessed to be teaching at John H. SHARY Elementary.
The following is a brief outline of my career background: 17 YEARS
I have taught 2nd,3rd & 4th grade GT-Gifted & Talented, Bilingual, Newcomers
program and served as a New Teacher Mentor.
I'm an EC-4 Bilingual certified, Interdisciplinary Studies
Cum Laude Education Major with an Associates in Fine Arts and
a member of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest, largest, and most selective
honor society for all academic disciplines & Texas GT Association.
Writing, Reading, Science, Art, and Math/STEM are my interests.
My students have enjoyed great success on the local and National level pursuing
Math/Science projects. My first STEM Team was a group of 3rd graders and were
recognized nationally by the Toshiba Explora Vision Competitive program of young
inventors. My second grade class was recognized as an outstanding participant in a
Nano-Technology Poster and Poetry Design Contest. Two of my 2nd grade students were honored as the State and National 1st Place winners! I have coached STEM Teams ranging
from 2nd to 6th grade. I also participated in the first Region One/ UTPA STEM Teachers
Collaboration Project presenting a STEM Fair to the City Of Pharr Commissioners and
community. I had been an active participant in the HESTEC Educator's Roundtable since
2006. Many of my 4th grade students were invited to participate in HESTEC/NASA projects
at the University of Texas -Pan American. I was recognized as the HESTEC Educator of the
Year by the Monitor and HESTEC for promoting a STEM based essay contest.
I also enjoy writing and have been blessed with winning several awards in feature and
news writing at the elementary, middle, high school and university level.
I also wrote a weekly news feature for a local paper as part of my professional freelance career.
